said the guy is still alive. now authorities are trying to figure out how this could have happened. it was at this glenarden condo around noon friday when paramedics responded to a call. they found an elderly resident, discovered by a man is man, who appeared to be dead. >> they went in there and found him laying down -- discovered that a maintenance man. >> they came back out and call the police and rescue squad. >> sources said the man had a medical condition that gives off a foul odor and causes swelling. the paramedics concurred that the man was in fact dead. next as this concern you at all? >> sure, we all live here and we are concerned about it. >> an investigator checking the scene later found signs of life. the discrepancy troubled elderly neighbors living in the same

complex. >> i think it was a bad judgment on the medical people they came out. >> the man was taken by ambulance to the hospital. county fire investigators are conducting an internal review. many here hope this kind of thing never happens again. >> you have to check them. you cannot look at him and say he is dead. >> authorities have not identified this man, so we don't know specifically what his condition is right now. we have learned that investigators have interviewed the to paramedics. there have been ordered to have limited contact with the public as this investigation continues. > the battle over health care reform continues tonight. the legislation is still attracting opposition, despite its passage. sarah palin spent the day with members of the tea party

suffered minor injuries this morning in northeast d.c. the bus driver and two passengers for taken to hospital after complaining of neck and back pain. a former virginia lawmaker who served six terms in congress has died. republican stanford parris served as an air force pilot during the korean war. funeral services will be held at arlington national cemetery. he was 80 years old. marilyn's house of delegates passed legislation aimed at helping homeowners struggling to pay their mortgage. the bill would require remediation between fort -- between borrowers facing foreclosure and their lender. an application for loan modification must be sent to homeowners 45 days before foreclosure action is about. the letter must include information on programs and counseling help.

similar legislation is pending in the senate. the national cherry blossom festival officially kicks off today. mike, how is it out there? >> it is making a beautiful sunset here at the tidal basin. planners with the national park service a of the blooms will not open until tomorrow. the national cherry blossom festival is in full bloom, drawing thousands of visitors to washington and the tidal basin. >> it is such a great place to come with the kids for a vacation. >> is beautiful. i wish it were warmer, though. >> some locals say is their first year attending the festival. >> it is definitely a lot of people, but it is well worth it. >> she loves it. she almost forgot to treat her milk. >> children and their parents ran in circles, flying kites.

>> the national transportation safety board is investigating a deadly crash between a church van and a tractor-trailer. 10 people in the van and the truck driver died when the truck crossed the median and hit the van had on. eight members of a mennonite families in the van were killed. two young boys survived the crash. friends said the family was traveling to iowa to attend a wedding. the vatican says pope in a dix authority has not been weakened by the recent attacks

over his recent halling of sex abuse cases. they say he was the first to oversee tougher rules. thieves stole personal information of more than 3 million people with federal student loans. it happened at a minnesota company that guarantees the loans. the educational credit management corp. is a contractor for the u.s. department of education. the companies president says the theft was discovered last week. >> relevant in critical data on it for a number of our borrowers like social security numbers and names, addresses. >> police and company officials say no financial account if permission was taken. a credit protection agency has been tired -- has been hired to help protect borrowers and their personal information. walmart had to pay a

>> walmart has been ordered to pay $9 million to a texas woman who was wrongly accused of forgery. and she had sold her car for tuition money and was paid in $4,000 worth of walmart money orders. store employees thought they were fake and had kids and arrested, even though " walmart bank had verified that the money orders were real. >> i went to jail, just for trying to cash my money orders. >> dixon spent several days in jail before being released. her lawyer says wal-mart's store employees are not trained to determine whether money orders are authentic, and that company

virginia is 9-0, winning 15-6. one guy will have to be on board with the program, but redskins fans may be wondering about albert haynesworth. he has chosen to work out on his own instead of going with the team'voluntary workouts. the new coach talked with albert and feels that everything is ok. experts i am just going to let time go by and hopefully albert is in great shape and he comes in ready to go full speed. i am looking for guys that are going to get it done on the field. albert is going to have a great off-season conditioning program to stay healthy. if he does that, it gives us a chance to get better. >> there are only 11 games left. tonight they take another shot at breaking out of the longest losing streak in the history of the team. on the court last night, nothing
